Dr. Jivraj N. Mehta Government Polytechnic, Amreli was established in June 1984. The institute is functioning under the Directorate of Technical Education Gandhinagar. Dr. Jivraj N. Mehta Government Polytechnic College, Amreli is an All India Council for Technical Education approved institution and is affiliated with the Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad.

Dr. Jivraj N. Mehta Government Polytechnic, Amreli offers diploma programmes in various disciplines. The institute is responsible to contribute the technological and socio-economical development of the society by offering different technical program, training, consultancy and extends services to industries to fulfill the current and future needs of students, industries and our society.
